Sakif Alam is a published author and founding partner at Kabir & Alam, where he leads the firm’s immigration practice. With extensive experience in immigration and refugee law, where he regularly represents clients before both the Federal Court and all divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, he approaches every case from a litigator’s perspective, and because he was once an international student, he understands the precarious situation of temporary residents.

Having navigated the Canadian immigration system as a temporary resident, Sakif brings a uniquely personal understanding to cases involving international students, work permit holders, and others whose status — and lives — hang in the balance. He regularly advises international students at Ontario universities and colleges on study permit extensions, co-op work permits, post-graduation work permits, and restoration of status.
